The Transition Year musical Rock of Ages: Teen Edition took place from 21st to 23rd January and was a lively and highly successful production that showcased the talent, commitment and teamwork of our TY students.

Set against the backdrop of 1980s rock music, the show brought together an energetic cast who worked tirelessly over many months to bring the story to life. Each performance was met with an enthusiastic response from audiences, who enjoyed both the strong musical performances throughout the three-night run.

The cast delivered confident and engaging performances throughout. Louise Sheridan took on the role of Lonny, guiding the audience through the action with humour and charisma. Nicole Carr played Drew, capturing both the vulnerability and determination of the character, while Arianne Mejia impressed as Sherrie with a strong vocal performance and assured stage presence.

Lexie Redden brought warmth and authority to the role of Dennis Dupree, and Grace McCarthy gave a polished performance as Justice. Summer Brady commanded the stage as Stacee Jax, while Cara Keogh added strength and presence in her role as Hilda.

Comic moments were confidently handled by Chloe Nolan as Anita Bath and Abigail Fortune as Franz. Lina Mecherouki performed the role of Constance with confidence, and Leah Fahy Keogh completed the cast as the Mayor, contributing strongly to the ensemble.

The success of the production was also due in no small part to the dedication and expertise of the staff involved. Sincere thanks go to the director, Ms Sharon Osbourne, whose vision and guidance shaped the show from start to finish, and to the musical director, Mr Aidan Greene, who worked tirelessly in developing the cast’s musical confidence and performance quality. The choreography, led by Deirdre Browne, added energy and professionalism to the production and played a key role in bringing the show to life on stage.

Special thanks are also extended to Ms Suzanne Byrne, TY Coordinator and producer, for her organisation, leadership and ongoing support throughout the process. Appreciation is due to Ms Ruth Murphy, props director and projectionist, for her creativity and technical expertise, and to stage managers Mr Michael Larkin and Mr Diarmuid O’Mahony for ensuring the smooth running of each performance. The school community would also like to thank our caretaker, Mr Alan McGovern, for his invaluable assistance and support behind the scenes.

Overall, Rock of Ages: Teen Edition was a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved and a source of great pride for the school community. It stands as a strong example of the creativity, collaboration and commitment fostered through our Transition Year programme.
