Halloween Dress Up Day 2026

Halloween Fancy Dress Day at Loreto Crumlin

Loreto Crumlin was filled with Halloween spirit, creativity and plenty of fun as students and teachers took part in our annual Halloween Fancy Dress Day. From imaginative individual costumes to brilliant group outfits, the effort and originality on display throughout the school were fantastic.

The celebrations culminated in a fashion show in the Concert Hall, where students from each year group had the opportunity to showcase their costumes. Following the show, prizes were awarded for the best individual and group costumes in each year group, along with the highly anticipated Best Overall Costume awards.

A Fantastic Range of Costumes

Our students certainly rose to the occasion, with a wonderful variety of costumes inspired by films, television, music, sweets and popular culture.

In 1st Year, April Dicken impressed as a box of Lyons tea, winning Best Individual Costume. The Best Group Costume prize went to Lauryn Mulreid and Aoife O’Rourke for their Thriller-inspired performance.

In 2nd Year, Lily Mahony won Best Individual Costume as a clown, while Kayla Farrelly and Jomana Essunny took the group prize as boxes of Nerds sweets.

In 3rd Year, Charley Slattery won Best Individual Costume as a roll of photographic film. Rosie Kavanagh and Darcie Salmon won Best Group Costume for their portrayal of Bruce Bogtrotter and Miss Trunchbull from Matilda.

In 5th Year, Roisin Mannion won Best Individual Costume as Gunter from Sing. Summer Brady, Grace McCarthy and Emily Confrey won the group prize as Mario, Peach and Luigi.

Celebrating Our Best Overall Costumes

A special mention goes to our two Best Overall Costume winners, whose creativity and attention to detail stood out on the day.

Callie Lamb from 1st Year was awarded Junior Best Overall Costume for her fantastic portrayal of a fortune teller. Meanwhile, Keira Daly from 6th Year won Senior Best Overall Costume as Medusa.

Congratulations to both students on their well-deserved awards!

The Teachers Join in the Fun

The students were not the only ones embracing the Halloween spirit. Our teachers also arrived in an entertaining array of costumes, adding to the fun and excitement throughout the day.

Staff costumes included the cast of Shrek, two ostriches, the Wet Bandits from Home Alone, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants, Donald Trump, Judge Judy, Jedward and the Tin Man. Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved helped make the celebrations even more memorable.

Thank You to Everyone Involved

A huge thank you to Ms Walsh and Ms Ryan for organising the day’s celebrations and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. We are also grateful to our judges, Ms Ennis, Ms Casey and Mr Brennan, who had the difficult task of selecting the winners from such an impressive range of costumes.

A special thank you goes to Mr Greene, who took on the role of DJ for the fashion show and kept the event moving along.

Most importantly, well done to all our students and staff who participated. The creativity, effort and enthusiasm on display made this year’s Halloween Fancy Dress Day a wonderful success and a fantastic way to begin the mid-term break.

Congratulations to all our winners, and we wish everyone a very happy mid-term!
