A warm welcome to the 71 new students who began their Loreto Crumlin journey in first year this week.
There are three new classes, named after inspirational Irish sporting stars. The 1 Harrington class are named after Ireland’s latest Olympic gold medalist, boxer Kellie Harrington.
The 1 Blackmore class are named after another Loreto student, Rachael Blackmore of Loreto Clonmel. Rachael was star of the Cheltenham racing festival earlier this year coming out Top Jockey with six winners. She also rode the Aintree Grand National winner Minella Times in April.
Paralympic gold medal swimmer Ellen Keane is the inspring sportswoman after whom the 1 Keane class are named. The Clontarf athlete put in an incredible performance in Tokyo when she won the SB8 100m breaststroke that made us all incredibly proud.
All of our new first year students had a four hour introductory session to their school this week, led by their Year Head Mr. Larkin and our new Home School Liaison Teacher Ms. Cullen. The 6th year senior prefects gave the girls a tour of all the corridors and classrooms of Loreto College.
We wish all our new students, in all year groups every success in their educational journey in Loreto College, Crumlin Road. There are certainly exciting times ahead.
