Recently in our school, I campaigned to highlight period poverty. This is to make students aware of period poverty and to try prevent it from happening in our school.
Period poverty is when there is a lack of access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education, toilets, hand washing facilities and waste management.
During the month of December, I made presentations to most of the students to teach them about period poverty and what we are doing as a school to fight against it.
Since the 6th of January, to start the campaign, we as a school are offering free sanitary products in the upstairs bathroom. The sanitary products are available in little baskets in each cubicle of the toilet. My team and I will refill the baskets every morning and if all goes well, we will expand the products to all the toilets in the school.
