It has been with great pride that we have learned of the parents and past pupils of Loreto College who have been battling on the front line fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.
From local heroes in St. James’s Hospital Candice Michelena of the class of 2015 and parents Vicky Ragas and Marjorie Porras to fellow 2015 graduate Ayena Lisimba in Tallaght and 2013 graduate Tara Gannon in St. Patrick’s Mental Health Services.
Further afield, Rizelle Caones of the class of 2012 was battling COVID-19 in Sydney Australia, while just down the road from our school, Jeanne Brotarlo is ensuring that the new babies who arrive into our world at the Coombe Women’s Hospital are safe and sound.
We are grateful to all of these amazing women and to all front line workers who have worked so tirelessly over the last three months. A special tribute also to Tara Gannon’s father Thomas, who was part of a number of missions to Beijing to collect PPE gear for workers in the health service.
The Science department of Loreto College was also happy to donate 2,200 pairs of disposable gloves and a tub full of goggles to Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross to boost their PPE supplies in March.
