Renowned celebrity chef Neven Maguire paid a visit to Loreto College, Crumlin Road on Wednesday, 11th September to give an eagerly anticipated cooking demonstration to Home Economics and LCVP (;Leaving Cert Vocational Programme) students.
The Head Chef and proprietor of the award winning MacNean House and Restaurant put on a brilliant show in Ms. Robinson’s kitchen as he prepared a delicious chicken, sweet potato and chickpea curry with rice. He topped it off with a divine strawberries and raspberries trifle.
In Neven’s latest book, “Home Economics for Life”, he invites us all to go back to school to learn how to cook “A selection of the only 50 recipes you need to know – and how to make them right”. Neven himself went back to school as he got hands on with the ingredients in our Home Economics kitchen and demonstrated how healthy food can be made easily and affordably.
5th years Rosemary Olar and Lizi Trapaidze helped set Neven up with his ingredients and equipment. They also presented him with a thank you gift on behalf of all the students. Transition year pupils Kelsey & Shannon Redmond and Kaitlyn McGlue ably assisted the Cavan chef in preparing the delicious meal.
Thanks to Neven for giving up his time on a very busy day for him and to Ms. Kelleher for making the event possible.
